Some Ghanaian tomato traders have reportedly been caught up in a terrorist attack in Titao, northern Burkina Faso.

This was announced by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, in a statement dated Sunday, February 15, 2026.

According to the Minister, the traders’ vehicle was caught in an assault said to have targeted a military installation in the area.

“The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is liaising with the officials of Burkina Faso to visit the attack site for details and identification of Ghanaians caught in the attack,” the statement said.

The Ministry noted that verification is ongoing to confirm whether there are casualties or injuries among the Ghanaian traders.

It added that further details would be communicated to the public as more information becomes available.

Titao, located in northern Burkina Faso, has been a hotspot for militant attacks since 2019, making the region highly volatile for travellers and traders.

The Ministry emphasized that the Government of Ghana is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of its citizens.
