The Majority Caucus in Parliament has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to annul its parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency over allegations of vote-buying.
In a statement issued on February 8, 2026, and signed by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Mr Mahama Ayariga, the caucus said it had taken notice of reports suggesting that some delegates were allegedly induced during the just-ended primary in the Greater Accra constituency.
The caucus described the alleged acts as unacceptable and inconsistent with the NDC’s stated commitment to promote integrity and reset Ghana’s political culture.
According to the statement, after what it described as extensive consultations, the core and extended leadership of the caucus resolved to formally present its concerns to the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee.
It is therefore calling for the immediate annulment of the primary.
The caucus further demanded that any candidate found to have engaged in vote-buying or other unethical practices should be disqualified and barred from contesting in any fresh primary that may be organised.
