The New Patriotic Party has filed a notice of appeal and an application for a stay of execution after the High Court nullified the 2024 parliamentary results in Kpandai and ordered a new election within 30 days.
The party maintains that the court’s decision is legally untenable and insists that the original results remain valid.

Addressing journalists, counsel for MP Matthew Nyindam stated that while the party acknowledges the authority of the court, it fundamentally disagrees with the judgment.
He disclosed that he anticipated the ruling and thus arrived prepared with a notice of appeal already drafted.

Nyindam emphasised that the NPP intends to pursue every legal avenue available to it.
He confirmed that the petitioner had been properly served with all relevant processes, despite discarding the documents.

The lawyer also defended the Electoral Commission’s decision to relocate the collation centre, describing it as lawful and justified.

According to him, the party is fully prepared for a by-election should it ultimately become necessary, although it firmly maintains that the High Court’s ruling was unjust and must be overturned.
