The Manhyia Palace is set to host the 2026 edition of the Hollywood Africa Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards), a global platform aimed at connecting the African diaspora with communities across the world.

The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the awards scheme, which celebrates outstanding talents and individuals making significant contributions to society.

Executives of HAPAwards, led by its Founder and President, Tina Weisinger, unveiled their vision to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, when they participated in the Awukudae Festival on April 8, 2026.

“We, the team from Hollywood, are very happy to be in your presence and in the Asante Kingdom. The HAPAwards offers a unique platform that creates a bridge which connects the African diaspora to the rest of the communities across the world,” Ms Weisinger said.

She noted that the awards scheme annually recognises individuals who excel in their respective fields and serve as inspiration to the youth globally.

Ms Weisinger further indicated the intention of the organisers to honour the Asantehene during the 10th edition of the event, subject to a date to be approved by the Palace.

“We will be very happy to honour His Majesty when we host our 10th edition here at the Manhyia Palace and seek His Majesty’s approval for a date as we celebrate the African diaspora and the Asante Kingdom here in Kumasi,” she added.

The organisers also plan to use the event to raise funds for the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation and attract global investment to Kumasi.

In his response, the Asantehene granted approval for the event and directed Nana Amoamanghene and his Office to liaise with the organisers to determine a suitable date.

The delegation included Amberr Washington, Co-founder; Adeola Odunowo, African Representative , Mr Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer of Afchat and Professor Sam Nartey, Consultant to the project
