Hon. Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo, who recently won the Akwatia by-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has attributed his victory to internal divisions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the NPP’s decision to impose a single candidate on its members, rather than allowing an open contest, created widespread discontent among the party’s grassroots.

“They should have allowed an open contest. Forcing one person on the party caused a lot of resentment among their supporters,” he said.

Mr. Bediako Baidoo also pledged to revive the struggling Consolidated Diamond Company, which he described as “nearly collapsed.” He assured that efforts would be made to rehabilitate the company in order to create jobs for the youth and stimulate local economic growth.
