Normal cultural and social activities are set to resume in the Denkyira Traditional Area following the lifting of the ban on noise making and restrictions on funerals. The announcement was made by the Denkyirahene, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV, during his maiden Akwasidae celebration held in Dunkwa.

The ban had been observed in line with customary protocols associated with the enstoolment and early reign of a new Paramount Chief. With the required traditional rites now completed, the Denkyirahene declared that communities may proceed with funeral ceremonies and other cultural events.

Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV explained that the decision aims to restore the natural rhythm of community life while fostering unity and peace across the traditional area. He encouraged families, clans, and local leaders to conduct funerals with dignity, moderation, and respect—emphasizing that true cultural identity is expressed not only through celebration but also through discipline and harmony.

The Denkyirahene also appealed to chiefs, elders, church and mosque leaders, and youth groups to support orderly public gatherings and to promote an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual respect throughout Denkyira.

The announcement has brought relief to many households that had postponed funeral rites and church-related activities. Community leaders anticipate a gradual rescheduling of ceremonies in the coming weeks.

The Denkyira Traditional Council is expected to issue additional guidelines on the appropriate conduct of funerals and public events in due course.
