The newly enstooled Denkyirahene, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV, has officially abolished the practice that allowed funerals in Dunkwa to be held only once each month.

Speaking during his first Akwasidae celebration, the King clarified that the directive did not originate from the Denkyira Traditional Council and therefore lacked traditional legitimacy. He emphasized that cultural practices and community regulations must have clear roots in established customs, not be imposed without proper traditional authority.

Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV encouraged sub-chiefs and traditional leaders within Dunkwa and the surrounding communities to strengthen their engagement with the Denkyira Traditional Council. This, he said, will promote unity, effective administration, and an orderly handling of matters that affect the people.

The removal of the restriction stands as the first significant administrative decision of Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV’s reign, reflecting his intention to reaffirm tradition and foster harmony throughout the traditional area.
