A mobile money vendor was tragically attacked and killed on Monday, 28th April, during an armed robbery by unknown assailants at Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m.
The victim, identified as Christopher Ahordo popularly known as Colombo in the area had reportedly extended his working hours beyond his usual 5:00 p.m. closing time under unclear circumstances.
Eyewitnesses stated that while Colombo was preparing to close his mobile money (MoMo) shop around 6:15 p.m., two men dressed in long robes, with their faces covered and armed with pump-action guns, approached him.
The assailants took a bag believed to contain cash, and as they fled the scene, one of them shot Colombo in the left side of his chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses said they were unable to intervene due to the robbers firing shots indiscriminately as they escaped into nearby bushes.
The incident took place at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao. Residents later retrieved the body and transported it to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital mortuary.
The case has been reported to the municipal police, and investigations are currently underway.
