A 54-year-old dismissed police officer, Kofi Boakye Frimpong, has been convicted of impersonation by the Ashaiman District Court after pleading guilty to posing as a serving officer.
Presided over by Derick Pardden Eshun, the court found Frimpong guilty of falsely representing himself as a Chief Inspector, but has reserved sentencing until October 14, 2025, remanding him into custody in the meantime. The convict pleaded for leniency during the hearing.
According to Inspector Henry Nartey Tetteh, Frimpong was arrested on September 17, 2025, around 9:00 a.m., by officers of the Zenu-Attadeka MTTD at the Zenu Star Fuel Station. He was spotted wearing a black tactical police uniform with rank insignia of a Chief Inspector.
Officers became suspicious and engaged him in conversation, during which Frimpong attempted to flee on a motorbike but was quickly apprehended. Investigations later confirmed that he had been dismissed from the Ghana Police Service, but had continued posing as an officer in Ashaiman.
Frimpong now awaits final sentencing, with the court expected to deliver judgment on October 14, pending further investigation.
