An accident on the Bekwai–New Edubiase stretch has left three people dead and several others injured.
The incident occurred late Wednesday night, August 13, at Kyiraburoso, a community near Adansi Asokwa.
Eyewitnesses reported that an O.A. minibus, carrying 14 passengers and registered AS 8914-22, collided with a faulty Kia truck that was being towed by a fuel tanker. The bus was heading towards Adansi Asokwa at the time of the crash.
Fomena District Police Commander, DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni, confirmed the incident, stating that officers rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the distress call.
Preliminary investigations suggest the Kia truck had been left in the lane of the minibus while being hauled towards Assin Fosu by the tanker, leading to the fatal collision.
Three passengers on the minibus died on the spot, while others sustained varying degrees of injury.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
