Excitement filled the air in Wassa Amenfi East on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, as dozens of young men and women officially began their journey into public service. After weeks of training, beneficiaries of the Youth Employment Agency’s (YEA) Community Protection Assistant (CPA) and Fire Service Assistant (FSA) programs were formally handed over to the Police and Fire Service commands in the municipality.
For many of the recruits, the moment signified more than just employment—it was a chance to build careers, serve their communities, and prove their worth. Proud parents, friends, and community leaders looked on as the new officers took their first steps into national service.
Regional Director of YEA, Hon. Abdul Hakeem Mahama, reminded the recruits that the program was designed to give hope to Ghana’s youth.
“This is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real difference in society,” he said.
Municipal Chief Executive Raymond Nana Ebbah urged the recruits to serve with humility and discipline, emphasizing that their conduct on duty would reflect government’s broader “resetting agenda.”
Security chiefs from both the Police and Fire Service also charged the recruits to remain focused, hardworking, and disciplined, stressing that these qualities are essential for advancement in the security services.
As the recruits were officially handed over for deployment, the mood was one of optimism. Many expressed their eagerness to protect lives, serve with integrity, and inspire other young people seeking similar opportunities.
