The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. George Anane Coleman, has announced that stakeholder engagement on land reclamation in the municipality has been completed and reclamation work is underway.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Denkyiraman Radio’s Head of News, Mr. Edward Agyekum, Hon. Coleman revealed that abandoned mining pits at Bepo Kokoo near Denkyira Buabinso have already been reclaimed, while heavy-duty machines are currently working at Pokukrom. He assured residents that all abandoned pits across the municipality will be restored.
Hon. Coleman also disclosed that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the municipality is registering new members free of charge, encouraging residents without cards to take advantage of the ongoing exercise.
In the neighboring Upper Denkyira West District, District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Nsiah Isaac confirmed that consultations for similar reclamation projects have been completed. He said the district is awaiting heavy-duty machines currently in use in Upper Denkyira East.
Meanwhile, Hon. Nsiah added that his office is desilting gutters and rivers in Diaso to help reduce flooding during the rainy season.
These combined efforts aim to restore the environment and improve living conditions in both districts.
