A Nigerian man, believed to be in his late thirties, is currently in police custody after being accused of defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The incident reportedly occurred in Gomoa Nkwantanan Teachers’ City, located in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Officers from the Awutu District Police Command made the arrest, and the suspect is being held as investigations continue.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly attacked the victim while she was walking home from school with her younger sister.
In an interview with the media, the victim’s mother, Cecilia Krampa, shared that the suspect assaulted both daughters. While the younger sister managed to escape, the 15-year-old was overpowered. The younger sister quickly sought help and returned with a motorbike rider, only to find that the suspect had already fled the scene.
Emmanuel Dogbe, the Assemblyman for the Buduburam-Nkwantanan Electoral Area, confirmed that a formal complaint led to the suspect’s arrest.
