Disturbing news has hit the Denkyira Akyimpim community in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality, as a man reportedly set his wife and six children ablaze following unresolved marital issues.

According to Mr. Solomon Kwame Manu, uncle to the deceased woman, the heartbreaking incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

He disclosed that the couple had been experiencing persistent conflicts, leading to several separations over the past months. On the night of the incident, the husband allegedly poured fuel around the family’s apartment, locked the doors from outside, and set the house on fire while his wife and children were asleep. He then fled the scene.

The Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly and managed to extinguish the blaze, but tragically, all seven occupants perished.

Mr. Manu further noted that the woman was seen at the palace of Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV just a day before the tragic event.

Reports indicate that after committing the heinous act, the man took his own life in a nearby cocoa farm. The youth of the community discovered his body hanging and subsequently alerted authorities.

All bodies have since been deposited at the Dunkwa Municipal Hospital morgue for preservation and further investigation.
