A joint operation by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has led to the shutdown of a secret cannabis-infused liqueur factory in Ntiribuoho, Offinso Municipality, in the Ashanti Region.

The illegal facility, hidden within a poultry farm, was used to produce a cannabis-laced alcoholic beverage known as Famude or Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.

During the raid, authorities seized large quantities of the unauthorized liqueur along with suspected narcotic substances. One person was arrested at the scene, while other suspects fled and are currently being pursued by law enforcement.

“This operation underscores our joint resolve to clamp down on the distribution of harmful and illegal substances in our communities,” an FDA spokesperson stated, adding a strong warning about the health risks associated with unlicensed products.

The public is advised to avoid unapproved consumables and to promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities. Meanwhile, the arrested suspect is assisting with investigations as efforts continue to track down the remaining accomplices involved in the underground operation.
