The newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Central Regional Communications Officer, Mr Agyeman Asiedu, has expressed gratitude to God, NPP delegates, former Transport Minister, Mr Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, and all those who supported his bid for the position.
Speaking to Denkyiraman Radio’s National Agenda after his victory in the NPP Central Regional elections held at Mankessim last weekend, Mr Asiedu said his election was a major endorsement of his vision to strengthen the party’s communication structures and help position the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Asiedu polled 233 votes to defeat two other contenders, including the incumbent Regional Communications Officer, Mr Isaac Blankson.
He thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work closely with NPP communicators across the Central Region, irrespective of their constituencies.
Mr Asiedu said one of his key priorities would be to introduce a new approach to party communication by ensuring greater participation of constituency-level communicators in radio and television political programmes.
Under the proposed system, he said, constituency communications officers would be responsible for deploying communicators from their respective constituencies to represent the party on various media platforms, rather than relying solely on the Regional Communications Office to select communicators.
He said the approach would create opportunities for more party communicators to participate in public discussions while ensuring that issues affecting individual constituencies received appropriate local representation.
Mr Asiedu also announced plans to organise capacity-building workshops for NPP communicators at the polling station, electoral area and constituency levels.
The workshops, he said, would equip communicators with the requisite skills and knowledge to effectively communicate the party’s policies, programmes and achievements, while responding appropriately to emerging political issues.
He said strengthening communication structures at the grassroots level was essential to building a united and effective communication team capable of helping the NPP secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Asiedu therefore appealed to NPP members, party executives and communicators in the Central Region to put aside their differences and work collectively for the progress and electoral success of the party.
He assured party members that he would operate an open and inclusive communication system and work with all communicators to improve the NPP’s visibility and messaging across the region.
Mr Asiedu maintained that unity, discipline, effective communication and commitment at all levels would enable the NPP to strengthen its structures and position itself strongly ahead of the 2028 elections.
