A disturbing road accident occurred at Okrakwadjo, along the Koforidua–Adukrom stretch in the Eastern Region, resulting in minor injuries to a pregnant woman and several others. Thankfully, no lives were lost.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace with registration number GT 5160-17, which was traveling from Ashaiman to Koforidua. According to an eyewitness, the vehicle veered off the road and landed in a bush on the shoulder.
The incident happened amid persistent rainfall that began early in the morning, likely contributing to poor visibility and slippery road conditions.
In a remarkable show of responsiveness, the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and her team from the Regional Coordinating Council chanced upon the scene and joined in the rescue efforts.
The Minister used the occasion to urge drivers to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, especially during the rainy season when driving conditions become more hazardous.
