A devastating fire broke out near the Madina Redco flats at approximately 11:15 p.m. yesterday, destroying more than 150 wooden and metal structures used for both residential and commercial purposes.
Firefighters from Madina, Adenta, Legon, Abelemkpe, and the Fire Service Headquarters battled the blaze and managed to bring it under control by 2:22 a.m. today.
Tragically, a young Nigerian woman, identified only as Beauty and believed to be in her early twenties, lost her life after becoming trapped in the flames. Her remains have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Despite the intensity of the fire, firefighters successfully prevented it from spreading to over 200 nearby structures, including the Redco flats.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation.
