The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has declared that it will continue its ongoing strike despite a High Court injunction secured by the National Labour Commission (NLC), which has declared the strike illegal.

According to Joseph Krampah, Public Relations Officer of the GRNMA, the association has not yet received any official notice of the injunction.

“We can’t act on something we haven’t seen,” Krampah said in an interview with Citi News.

The strike, which was launched to protest delays in implementing the 2024 Collective Agreement, has led to significant disruptions in healthcare delivery across the country.

While affirming respect for the law and the courts, the GRNMA insists that the strike will not be called off until it is formally served with the injunction.

Krampah emphasized the association’s resolve, stating, “Aluta continua” the struggle continues reflecting the determination of nurses and midwives to press home their demands.

The GRNMA also maintains that it duly notified all relevant authorities before embarking on the industrial action. It argues that the NLC’s classification of the strike as illegal does not, on its own, constitute sufficient grounds to end the action without the appropriate legal service.
