Mpox infections in Ghana have surged, with 10 new cases confirmed, bringing the national total to 19, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

Previously, the GHS had reported eight confirmed cases four in the Greater Accra Region and four in the Western Region. The new figures suggest a significant rise in infections across the country.

Health officials say five of the confirmed cases are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment. Thankfully, no deaths have been recorded in the latest outbreak.

The Ghana Health Service has intensified surveillance and response measures, particularly in affected areas, to contain the spread of the virus.

Mpox is a viral disease that presents with symptoms such as fever, headache, and skin rashes. It spreads through direct contact with infected individuals or contaminated items, including bedding and bodily fluids.

Authorities continue to urge the public to report suspected cases and adhere to hygiene and safety protocols.
