The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has revoked 701 diplomatic and service passports as part of a nationwide recall of official travel documents. According to a recent statement, 341 diplomatic and 360 service passports have been invalidated and placed on a stop-list due to failure to return them after expiration or upon official request.

The cancellation follows public directives issued on January 15 and March 10, 2025, which required former officials and other holders to surrender their official passports. Affected individuals include former ministers, Members of Parliament, Council of State members, retired judges, regional ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), officials of the National Cathedral project, and non-career ambassadors—along with their spouses and dependents. The directive also extends to religious and traditional leaders, businesspersons, and former government functionaries who are no longer in public service.
