An Accra High Court has remanded former National Signals Bureau head, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, into EOCO custody for seven working days to allow the Attorney General’s office to finalize the preparation of witness statements.

The proceedings have been adjourned to May 13 for further directions.

The court had previously adjourned the case to today to consider in-camera bail submissions and to rule on the bail status of the first accused.

During the hearing, the defense counsel requested that the existing bail terms be extended to all accused persons. However, the Attorney General objected in the case of the first accused, citing concerns over possible interference with witnesses.

This objection prompted the court to hold a private session to hear arguments from both sides.

After reviewing the submissions, the judge ruled to remand the accused for seven working days to enable the Attorney General’s office to complete its witness statements.

Lawyer Atta Akyea, representing the accused, requested that the remand period include weekends, but the judge declined, stating that the Attorney General’s office does not work on weekends—a position supported by Deputy Attorney General Srem Sai.

The court clarified that the seven-day period is also necessary to ensure the availability of witnesses, especially as one key witness is currently outside the jurisdiction.
