Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has terminated the contracts of all caterers across the country with immediate effect.
The announcement, made in a notice dated Friday, 2 May 2025, bars current caterers from cooking for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
The notice, signed by Hajia Fati Forgor, National Coordinator of the GSFP, attributed the mass termination to an ongoing restructuring exercise.
It assured affected caterers that all outstanding arrears for the second term of the academic year would be settled “in due course.”
The GSFP Secretariat also indicated that new modalities for recruiting caterers would be announced soon—signaling a potential overhaul of the current system, although specific details remain undisclosed.
The termination impacts all caterers under the program, which forms part of Ghana’s efforts to meet the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) on reducing hunger and extreme poverty.
The GSFP provides meals to schoolchildren nationwide, aiming to improve enrollment, attendance, and retention in public basic schools.
