The Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Dunkwa Circuit, Rev. Kobena Appiah, has called on Christians and the general public to embrace godly wisdom by allowing the Word of God to guide their thoughts, speech, and daily actions.
Preaching at a thanksgiving service held at the Wesley Methodist Church, Dunkwa-On-Offin, as part of activities marking the fifth anniversary of Denkyiraman Radio, Rev. Appiah delivered a sermon on the theme, “The Word Transforms Us for Wise Living.”
Drawing lessons from Proverbs 8:22, 1 Corinthians 1:24, and Psalm 19:7, he explained that true wisdom originates from God and is fully revealed through Jesus Christ. He noted that wise living goes beyond acquiring knowledge and involves living in a manner that pleases God in every aspect of life.
According to him, the Word of God transforms believers and equips them with the wisdom needed to make sound decisions. He stressed that Christians must seek divine direction in their daily activities rather than relying solely on human understanding.
Rev. Appiah further urged residents to apply godly wisdom in practical matters, including planning and development projects, warning against actions that could create future challenges. He cited the construction of buildings on waterways as an example of decisions that often result from a lack of wisdom and proper guidance.
Touching on communication, the Methodist minister emphasized that wise speech reflects a person’s character and relationship with God. He encouraged traders, teachers, bankers, and other professionals to cultivate positive attitudes and communicate respectfully with customers and clients.
“Wise living is seen in the words we speak and the way we relate to others. The Word of God should influence our conduct and interactions every day,” he stated.
He concluded by urging Christians to remain grounded in God’s Word, describing it as the foundation for righteous living, good character, and lasting success.
The thanksgiving service formed part of activities commemorating Denkyiraman Radio’s five years of broadcasting, bringing together management, staff, church leaders, traditional authorities, and members of the public to thank God for the station’s growth and impact on society.
