A woman believed to be in her thirties has reportedly died after consuming a poisonous substance at Dunkwa Kadadwen in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
The deceased, identified only as Margaret, popularly known as Maggy, was rushed to the Dunkwa Government Hospital after the incident but was unfortunately pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
According to accounts from residents, the deceased had on several occasions expressed concerns and suspicions that her husband was involved in relationships with other women. These concerns reportedly led to frequent misunderstandings between the couple.
However, some neighbours and the husband, known as Brother Yaw, a welder by profession, have denied the allegations, insisting that they were unaware of any such relationships.
Residents say the incident has left the community in shock and mourning.
The body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue pending further investigations by the police to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
Meanwhile, community members have called for greater attention to family and relationship counselling to help address domestic disputes before they escalate into tragic situations.
