Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has expressed confidence that Ghana’s economy will grow faster than the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) revised projection of 5.7 per cent for 2026.

The IMF recently raised its growth forecast for Ghana from 4.6 per cent to 5.7 per cent, representing an upward revision of 1.1 percentage points. Dr Forson said the government expected economic growth to exceed the revised forecast, citing its commitment to fiscal discipline and economic reforms.

Dr Forson made the remarks after meeting Zeine Zeidane, Director of the IMF’s African Department, on the sidelines of the ongoing IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fiscal credibility, discipline and reforms to sustain the country’s economic recovery, while stressing that the expectation of growth above 5.7 per cent was a government projection and not a further revision by the IMF.
