The National Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr. Abass Imoro, has appealed to drivers across the country to exercise caution and vigilance on major highways during the Christmas festivities.
Mr. Imoro said strict adherence to road safety regulations was critical to reducing road crashes and protecting lives and property, particularly during periods of increased vehicular movement.
He made the appeal in an interview with Denkyiraman Radio, cautioning drivers against practices such as wrongful overtaking, over-speeding, overloading and charging unapproved lorry fares.
Mr. Imoro noted that these acts were major contributors to road accidents during festive seasons and called on drivers to conduct themselves responsibly.
He also urged passengers to remain vigilant and report drivers who engage in careless or dangerous driving to the leadership of the Union for appropriate sanctions.
Mr. Imoro reaffirmed the GPRTU’s commitment to promoting road safety and ensuring discipline among its members to guarantee safe travel throughout the festive period.
