A man in his mid-20s, known only as Bright and popularly called “Cemetery,” was beaten to death by a mob at Cocoa Ase, a suburb of Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.
According to the area’s Assembly Member, Hon. Daniel Afriyie, he received a distress call around 4:00 a.m. reporting the incident. He immediately informed the police, who have since started investigations.
While the exact details of what led to the attack are still unclear, some residents say the victim was accused of stealing scrap metal. Eyewitnesses report that the mob chased him from the Praso Railway area to Bankyease, where he was stripped naked and beaten severely until he died.
Several community members have expressed shock and concern over the incident, questioning whether any evidence of theft was actually found before the lynching. They have called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation and make sure those responsible face justice.
