A Tarkwa District Court has sentenced Stephen Ntiful, a 25-year-old electrician popularly known as Kinata, to one year in prison with hard labour for stealing items valued at GH¢8,160.00 from a local tavern.

Ntiful pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, unlawful entry, and stealing. His accomplice, Victor Boateng, alias Why Me, is currently on the run.

Presenting the facts, Police Inspector Patrick Essien told the court that the complainant, Michael Bassuah, operates a tavern at Tarkwa Banso in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.

On May 11, 2025, Bassuah discovered that a Lenovo laptop, a gambling machine, a packet of Vodka, two packets of Rothman and Oris cigarettes, and a box of lighters had been stolen.

Investigations revealed that on the night of May 10, 2025, Ntiful and Boateng were among patrons watching the Ghana Music Awards at the tavern. After closing around 3:00 a.m., Bassuah went home, only to return the next morning to find the theft.

With assistance from neighbours, Bassuah apprehended Ntiful, who was handed over to the police. He is now serving his sentence, while efforts are underway to arrest Boateng.
