PURC Announces 1.14% Electricity Tariff Increase for Fourth Quarter

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 1.14 percent increase in electricity tariffs for the fourth quarter of 2025, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2025.

In a statement issued on September 23, 2025, the Commission indicated that water tariffs will remain unchanged during the same period.

According to the PURC, the adjustment was made under its Quarterly Tariff Review Mechanism, which considers key macroeconomic indicators such as exchange rate fluctuations and inflation.

The Commission explained that the upward adjustment was necessary to account for the depreciation of the Cedi and persistent inflationary pressures, while safeguarding the financial sustainability of utility service providers.

This means electricity consumers will see a marginal increase in their bills beginning October 1, while water rates remain stable.
