An eight-year-old girl has died after being knocked down by a speeding truck at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The tragic accident occurred Tuesday morning near the Ghana Commercial Bank area, while the victim was crossing at a pedestrian crossing with her friends.
According to police, the wood-laden DAF truck, which was reportedly speeding, failed to stop and dragged the girl for nearly 100 meters. She died instantly.
Central North Regional MTTD Commander, ASP Wonder Lumor, blamed excessive speeding and described the incident as “tragic and avoidable.”
The driver has since been arrested and will be arraigned before the court.
