The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Upper Denkyira East, Hon. George Anane Coleman, has announced plans to reshape and improve deteriorating roads across the municipality.
Speaking on Denkyiraman Radio’s National Agenda morning show, the MCE highlighted the poor state of roads such as the Dunkwa-to-Bebianiha stretch, which he said has become hazardous due to a large shaft left uncovered by a contractor. He also raised concerns about the Dunkwa-On-Offin bridge, stressing the urgent need for repairs to prevent future accidents.
During the same interview, Hon. Coleman cautioned residents who dig pits and abandon them without proper covering. He warned that such actions contribute to flooding and pose a threat to public safety.
He further advised the public to refrain from acquiring or using government lands for commercial activities without proper authorization.
Addressing the issue of illegal mining, Hon. Coleman noted that since assuming office, he has not observed nor received reports of any ongoing “galamsey” (illegal mining) activities in the municipality. He, however, urged residents to report any suspected cases or locations of illegal mining to enable the authorities to take appropriate action.
