A heated exchange broke out at the Akwatia Lorry Station polling center during voting today, involving top officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to reports, the clash was between NPP’s Third National Vice Chairman, Osman Masawudu, and NDC’s First National Vice Chairman, Awudu Sofo Azorka.
The incident began when Masawudu, while addressing the media, mentioned Azorka’s name. Azorka, who was nearby, objected strongly and warned him not to bring up his name.
What initially appeared to be a light exchange quickly escalated into a heated verbal confrontation. Witnesses said supporters from both sides joined in, creating a chaotic scene.
Police officers stationed at the center intervened swiftly to calm tempers and prevent the situation from escalating further.
Calm has since been restored, and voting is continuing without further disruption.
