Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Andy Appiah Kubi, has confirmed that immediate past Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, is preparing to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidacy.
Speaking during a media engagement, the two-term MP highlighted the need for the NPP to rally behind Dr. Acheampong, whom he described as a unifying force with the vision to secure victory for the party in the 2028 general elections.
Although Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the three-term MP for Abetifi, has not officially declared his presidential ambitions, Appiah Kubi pointed to recent activities and the growing momentum around him as clear indicators of his intention to lead the party.
“The leader we’ve all been working tirelessly with to secure the future of our party is preparing himself, and that person is Dr. Bryan Acheampong. I’m just the messenger, but at the right time, he will formally announce his decision. What I can say is that Dr. Acheampong is an astute academician and a proven businessman. His work speaks for itself,” he said.
He praised Acheampong’s achievements, including the development of Rock City Hotel described as the largest hotel in Africa and his philanthropic support for thousands of students, including many at Achimota School.
“We believe he’s the one who can bring unity to the party. If we’ve lost an election to the NDC due to internal conflicts and disunity, then Dr. Bryan Acheampong is the one who can champion the NPP’s ‘Agenda 2028’. He holds two doctorate degrees and excels in both economics and business. Unlike others who claim to be either economists or businessmen, Bryan is truly both,” Appiah Kubi added.
The former MP concluded by expressing strong confidence in Dr. Acheampong’s capacity to lead the NPP and the country into a prosperous future.
