A combined team of police officers and National Security operatives has surrounded the residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The security personnel, who arrived at the premises earlier today, are reportedly demanding access to the property, which remains locked. Witnesses say officers have been knocking and banging on the main entrance, but there has been no response from inside so far.

The reason for the operation remains unclear at this time, but sources suggest it may be part of an official investigation.

This development follows past controversies involving Chairman Wontumi, including public allegations linking him to illegal mining activities claims he has consistently denied.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
