The Awutu Ofaakor Circuit Court has remanded 12 individuals alleged to have posed as National Security operatives and two suspected landguards over the unlawful demolition of more than 60 buildings under construction at Gomoa Akoti in the Gomoa East District.
The case is being heard by Her Honour Nana Asantewaa Attakorah.
The Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command arrested the suspects for allegedly carrying out the demolitions without legal authority.
They face four charges: conspiracy to commit crime, use of force and violence to intimidate lawful landowners, causing fear and panic, and obstructing developers from working on their properties.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to reappear before the court on March 4, 2026.
Victims who were present in court expressed relief over the arrests. Some traditional authorities in Gomoa Akoti have also called on law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to clamp down on landguards operating in the area.
