The Central Regional Health Directorate has strongly condemned a violent assault at the Akoti Health Centre in the Assin Fosu Municipality, describing the incident as an unacceptable attack on both health workers and patients.
In a statement, the Directorate stressed that acts of violence within health facilities will not be tolerated, warning that such incidents pose a serious threat to the delivery of healthcare services and the safety of frontline health personnel.
The Directorate has consequently called on the Ghana Police Service to take swift and decisive action to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and to help prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.
Meanwhile, the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Bismark Yeboah, in connection with the assault. Police say the suspect is believed to be a member of the Community Police Assistants.
