The Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG), in collaboration with the Africa Center for Hospitality, Aviation and Tourism (AFCHAT), KAYSPORTS and Tribe Culture, has premiered the Celebrity World Cup Diaries (CWCD), a sports and entertainment series aimed at redefining fan engagement and storytelling ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The premiere brought together football legends, celebrities, diplomats, corporate executives, traditional leaders, media personalities, influencers and sports stakeholders for networking, entertainment and the official unveiling of the project.
Celebrity World Cup Diaries is a series designed to spotlight football legends as they share memorable World Cup experiences, behind-the-scenes stories, match analysis and celebrity encounters.
Organisers said the initiative sought to bridge sports, culture and entertainment while bringing football fans closer to the global game through engaging storytelling.
Officials from PFAG, AFCHAT and KAYSPORTS, in remarks at the event, underscored the importance of sports and entertainment as tools for cultural connection, fan engagement and storytelling ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
A major highlight of the premiere was the screening of the first episode, which featured Ghanaian football legend Abdul Majeed Waris sharing reflections on football, entertainment and his World Cup journey.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Dana Diamond and Rita Awuku from the U.S. Embassy Public Diplomacy Section, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Okatakyie Nana Anim, Sanaahene of Ati-New Tafo and President of the Royals, Clergy and Sheiks Alliance, and Ohemea Ɔdeasempa Abena Ayebea Okani I, Asumkahemea of Adukurom and Vice Chairperson of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen Association in the Eastern Region.
Media organisations including EIB Network, Channel One TV, Sporty FM and Citi Sports provided coverage for the event.
Influencers and entertainment personalities such as KalyJay, SDK, BensonTheActor, Bigkumz, TheSeyram, Sneaker Nyame, Mempeasem President and Alor G also participated in the programme.
Organisers expressed optimism that the Celebrity World Cup Diaries would become a major platform for football storytelling, cultural celebration and fan engagement on the road to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
