An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced David Kwodow Prah Afful, popularly known on social media as Kwame Nkrumah II, to seven months in prison after he threatened to kill President John Dramani Mahama, Members of Parliament, and other government officials in a viral TikTok livestream.

Afful pleaded guilty to charges of threat of death and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace. In court, he expressed remorse and pleaded with government officials to forgive him for his actions.

The convict was arrested by the Ghana Police Service at his hideout near Kasoa Market around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, following widespread public outrage over the video.

In the livestream, Afful allegedly threatened to attack government officials, journalists, and civil servants using vehicles with official green number plates. He also incited violence by threatening to burn marketplaces and encouraging others to join in.

The Police, in a statement after the ruling, reaffirmed their commitment to protecting free speech but cautioned that they “will not tolerate statements that incite violence, insecurity, or public disorder.”
