Police in the Central Region have launched a manhunt for six suspects who escaped from custody at the Kotokuraba Police Station in Cape Coast.
According to Deputy Regional Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 11, 2025, around 9:00 p.m., after officers discovered that six out of eight detainees had fled their cells. The escapees Kofi Asifuah, Ernest Kojo, Ekow Arhinful, Toffic Faisal, Henry Kwofie, and Innusah Addai were being held in connection with various criminal cases.
Preliminary investigations revealed that around 8:40 p.m., the supervising officer on duty instructed the station orderly to provide food for the inmates after they complained of hunger. Shortly afterward, the detainees requested water to flush the toilet due to a lack of running water. When the officer attempted to provide it, six suspects allegedly overpowered him and escaped, leaving two others behind.
The District Commander immediately dispatched a night patrol team to pursue the fugitives, but the search yielded no immediate results. Police are urging the public to assist with credible information leading to their arrest. Residents can contact the police via 18555, 0299205854, or report to the nearest station.
