Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) have returned to work following a high-level delegation led by Zangbalun Lana Dr. Jacob Mahama, who delivered an appeal from the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, urging an end to the strike.
Addressing the doctors, the Zangbalun Lana said:
“The suspension of emergency care puts countless lives at risk; we beg you to consider the vulnerable who cannot wait.”
He also emphasized the importance of resuming essential services immediately and assured the doctors of the Yaa Naa’s commitment to resolving their concerns.
Within two hours of the meeting, the hospital announced the resumption of emergency services.
A statement on TTH’s official Facebook page confirmed:
“The intervention of the King successfully got the doctors to resume emergency services.”
Meanwhile, outpatient and specialist services remain suspended, pending the outcome of ongoing negotiations between the hospital administration and the doctors.
