Man Arrested for Stealing Iron Rods at Assin Fosu Overpass Project

The Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has arrested a man believed to be in his early 40s for allegedly stealing iron rods belonging to Asona Construction Enterprise.

The materials were intended for ongoing construction works on the overpass project near the Total 2 Fuel Station in Assin Fosu.

According to reports, a vigilant resident, Kofi Hagan, noticed the suspect loitering suspiciously around the site around 4:30 a.m. Moments later, he saw the suspect leave the area, only to return about an hour later with a taxi.

The suspect was seen loading iron rods into the vehicle when Kofi Hagan confronted him, sparking a brief scuffle. The taxi driver, sensing trouble, sped off and fled the scene.

Hagan promptly alerted the police, who responded quickly and arrested the suspect.

The man has since confessed to the theft in his caution statement and remains in custody, assisting police with ongoing investigations.
