The Obuasi Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service has foiled a robbery attempt on the Tutuka-Akrofuom road in Obuasi.
Acting swiftly on a distress call, the police arrested one suspect, identified as Pascal Yenkye, while several others escaped and are currently on the run.
According to police sources, officers pursued the gang into a nearby bush, where the suspects abandoned two unregistered motorbikes and a machete during their escape.
Yenkye, who attempted to flee on a motorbike, sustained a leg injury and was subsequently apprehended. He is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard.
A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining suspects.
