The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has endorsed businessman and constituency treasurer Solomon Asumadu as its parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election, scheduled for September 2, 2025.
The by-election follows the passing of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
According to NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party’s National Council unanimously approved Asumadu’s nomination after extensive consultations with party elders and local stakeholders.
Asumadu is widely recognized for his strong grassroots engagement and consistent financial support for party activities in the Akwatia constituency.
In his acceptance remarks, Asumadu thanked the party and the people of Akwatia for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to work tirelessly to advance development across the constituency and called on all NPP members and sympathizers to unite behind the party for victory.
“This endorsement is not just a nomination—it’s a call to serve,” he said, promising to uphold and build upon the legacy and vision of the late MP Yaw Kumi.
