Former Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East, Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie, has once again demonstrated his commitment to development and the welfare of his people by presenting a new astroturf project to the community of Denkyira Kyekyewre.
The presentation ceremony, held today at Denkyira Kyekyewre, brought together traditional leaders, opinion leaders, youth groups, and residents who gathered to witness what many described as a fulfillment of vision and promise.
The astroturf initiative forms part of projects initiated by Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie during his tenure as Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East. Despite leaving office, the former MP has remained resolute in ensuring that projects started under his leadership are completed for the benefit of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the former MP, former Canary Road Assembly Member, Hon. Isaac Opoku Afriyie, popularly known as Makwesi, stated that the condition of the community football field deteriorated after Dr. Kwofie left office. However, he stressed that the former legislator remains committed to fulfilling every developmental promise he made to the people.
According to him, the construction of the astroturf is not only meant to beautify the community but also to create opportunities for the youth, promote sports development, and help discover talented footballers within the area.
Hon. Afriyie added that true leadership is measured not only by holding political office but by the ability to continue impacting lives even after leaving power.
Receiving the project on behalf of the chiefs and people of Denkyira Kyekyewre, the Denkyira Kyekyewrehene, Nana Kwame Nipah II, expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie for his unwavering love and commitment to the development of the community.
The chief commended the former MP for remembering the people and responding to their developmental needs even after his tenure in Parliament. He described the gesture as a sign of genuine leadership and dedication to community growth.
Residents who witnessed the presentation could not hide their excitement, with many praising the former MP for his continuous support towards youth empowerment and infrastructure development.
The proposed astroturf project is expected to significantly improve sporting activities in the area and serve as a major social and recreational center for the youth of Denkyira Kyekyewre and surrounding communities.
