The Chief Executive Officer of Showbwoy Farmers, Mr. Isaac Agyire, has urged government to introduce agriculture as a compulsory subject across all schools, arguing that such a policy would help address Ghana’s growing unemployment challenge while strengthening the nation’s agricultural base.

Mr. Agyire believes that integrating farming into the curriculum will equip students with practical skills to fall back on if they are unable to secure white-collar jobs. “Farming is a noble and profitable profession,” he emphasized, “and not just a backup plan.”

He made the remarks during the official handover of a large vegetable farm to Twifo Hemang Senior High School in the Central Region. According to him, agricultural institutions and hands-on training are vital in preparing young people for self-sustaining livelihoods.

Supporting his call, Ms. Patricia Cruci, Supervisor and Monitoring Officer at the Twifo Hemang Denkyira Education Directorate, encouraged students to embrace agriculture regardless of their chosen career paths. She described farming as a rewarding venture that offers real financial opportunities.

Some students who had benefited from Showbwoy Farms’ training programme expressed appreciation to Mr. Agyire, noting that the skills acquired would empower them to explore agribusiness opportunities in the future.
