A mob in Ashalaja attacked two brothers who were accused of exhuming the body of a 10-year-old boy from a local cemetery.

The incident took place on January 14 and has sent shockwaves through the community. Eyewitnesses reported that the brothers, Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, dug up the grave of 10-year-old James Ajoyemeh in a cemetery located in Adewukwa, a community in Bawjiase.

They were intercepted by ‘okada’ riders in Ashalaja around 1 a.m. after a tip-off, which led to the mob assault. The mob severely injured the siblings before they were rescued by the police.

The intervention of the Dankyira Police prevented the brothers from being killed. The Awutu Bawjiase Police Command has since launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the exhumation.

Meanwhile, the two brothers have been taken to the Bawjiase Polyclinic for treatment due to the extent of their injuries. Community leaders have called for calm as the police continue their inquiries, urging residents to allow the legal process to take its course.
