President John Dramani Mahama has appointed the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, as Minister for Defence as part of a ministerial reshuffle.
A statement issued by the Presidency said the President had reassigned Mr Adjei to the Defence Ministry and submitted the changes to Parliament through the Speaker in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
As part of the reshuffle, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament (MP), has been reassigned from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The President also nominated Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP, as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation-designate.
Additionally, Mr Mahama Ayariga has been nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs-designate.
The nominations are subject to the approval of Parliament.
