Police officers from the Wassa East District Police Command were compelled to look for another mortuary after the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary reportedly refused to receive the body of a suspected murder victim.
The officers had transported the deceased to the facility for preservation pending investigations. However, the mortuary attendant informed them that the morgue had reached its maximum capacity and was unable to accommodate any additional bodies.
The situation reportedly left the officers stranded for some time as they searched for an alternative facility to preserve the body.
Meanwhile, hospital authorities have expressed concern over what they describe as the growing practice of bodies being left at mortuaries for extended periods during police investigations. According to the authorities, the prolonged stay of such bodies places pressure on the already limited storage capacity of the facility and disrupts its operations.
The police eventually began making arrangements to transfer the body to another mortuary while investigations into the alleged murder continue. This version is more fluid, avoids repetition, and maintains a neutral, objective news style.
