The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has embarked on a nationwide strike, disrupting operations across several government ministries, departments and agencies.

The industrial action, which took effect on March 9, 2026, follows the Government’s failure to implement new conditions of service for members of the Association, an issue CLOGSAG says has remained unresolved for several months.

The impact of the strike was immediately evident at some ministries in Accra on Monday morning.

At the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, only eight out of about 100 staff members had reported to work by 1000 hours, according to a staff member who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Similarly, the Ministry of Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions appeared deserted, with no staff available at the reception area to attend to visitors.

Members of CLOGSAG play key administrative roles within the public service, and their absence is expected to significantly affect routine government operations and service delivery.

Observers say if the impasse between the Association and the Government persists, the strike could lead to further disruptions in the operations of ministries, departments and agencies across the country.
